People suck, and it comes out most prominently when you're going through something craptastic [case in point- miscarriage]. Having no power really, really sucks. Luckily we were able to stay with my inlaws, since it was 84 in the house. 84 is bad enough, but having no fan made it absolutely unbearable. I am grateful that we only lost power- many of the houses around here have tarps on the roofs due to the wind damage, and I heard that quite a few people died (last I heard was 6).

We put up a small pool (120"x90"x22") and ds went in it for the first time, even though the water was still freezing cold right out of the hose. I did 11 quarts of tomatoes today. DH helped- I even put them through the blender so there's no chunks (DH is a veggie sissy like that). I don't have any canning supplies, so I'm improvising- dh cut a regular funnel so that it could handle big chunks, I'm using my corn cooking pot to do the waterbath, and I'm just letting them cool a bit and then using a potholder to get them out of the bath
